PORSCHEvolution
Created to show how the Porsche has evolved over the years, this website uses a parallax technique to achieve a smooth transition between the different eras of cars. The background transitions in an upward swipe as the user scrolls down. With a minimalist overall design the main elements are that of the display and a small transparent timeline on the left hand side. This provides a unique user experience that is heavily complimented by the audio accompaniment that takes a modern song and applies a matching historical twist as the full website moves through the timelines.
A major criticism of note is the information text that appears on each “slide” can be hard visually to read. With that there could be seen as a lack of accessibility awareness. Visually impaired people could suffer to receive the full experience.
Moooi
Mooi is an interior design company that clearly holds itself to high regard, its website presentation offers each of its items proudly on display. It uses a parallax effect here to give a great sense of depth within each scene. The visual style presented here is a main draw, with the colourful scenery and the complex scenes that fill the transitions between the product scenery. It offers a feeling of exploration as you scroll and click through the pages, moving into what could be the core listings of the products. There is a very aesthetically pleasing layout that seems to contradict the original presentation. The pages become more minimal with a focus on negative space and clean white colours. A note of the good use of call to actions within the web page. They do a successful job at instructing and luring the user to them.
A negative note could be the change in the styles between the main page and displays and the in depth listings. There is a lack of consistency that to some users could be distracting or even confusing.
Tag Team Signs
A more negative example of what to try and avoid comes with Tag Team Signs, a clashing colour scheme that does not work well in the scenario and provides difficulty in processing the information. There is a strange use of call to action assets; some things seem like call to actions that are not, and there are objects that are “call to actions” that seem like they should not be. Overall the composition and layout does not appear to be too displeasing. There could be better placement in order to provide more importance to relevant information.
