During this assignment the goal was to achieve a Metamorphosis animation that followed along from one of three different ideas. Regardless of the prompt it was intended to incorporate the ideals of Edward Tufte within the piece. To achieve that in the animation presented in this assignment, a first step was to show comparison within the piece. By keeping the modelled objects of toys, hanging from the mobile in close proximity, the viewer is able to determine the difference and relativity of each object respectively. By having the football and the yo yo near each other it becomes obvious to the audience, which object is which. Combined with the overall grouping and separation between the toys and the rocket to be launched this provides a message to the audience that the rocket will be going on a journey. Colour has been used to convey information by providing more plain, darker colours. Black, brown wood, etc to symbolise backdrop or less important information. And bright colours have been used to display everything the author has deemed important, in a way the lack of coherent colour scheme is emphasised purely on the thought of the meaning behind the piece. This recreation of a child’s imagination of the solar system and space itself. The intention was to use layering within the composition of the camera and the objects to provide that sense of depth, and to provide that feeling of watching the rocket leave and take off, offering a narrative for the audience.
