Animate

This assignment featured a series of exercises displaying the authors skills in various animation related topics throughout the module. The first exercise was to create a web based Advert/Infographic around the topic of an imaginary night club or music venue. For this the author chose to create a visual advertisement for a karaoke club, named “Club ‘Oke”. to begin, some research was taken through the use of google to find an aesthetic feel of a karaoke bar, after collating relevant images the intended design was decided to follow suit of the setting shot featuring a typical karaoke room layout, utilising the design space to be able to provide interactivity within the advert. After reimagining a variation of this layout, some effort was placed into enabling the interactivity between the user and the advert, in this being the use of interactive posters which would be clickable and a pop up would be enabled to provide more contextual information about each event that needed to be advertised. By utilising the tv monitor as the display it provides a more in theme narrative to the information provided as this is where the lyrics to the songs would appear. To provide more dynamic animation the veiling lights were animated to provide a semi random pattern that would sequence over fifteen seconds. Overall in this exercise the main learning opportunities to take away are the awareness of planning what your design is going to be, in this instance it was noticed too late the lack of opportunity to provide dynamic animation throughout the piece comes down to lack of planning around potential animated set pieces. The environment became a huge factor in discerning what could and could not be animated. Finally the complexity and depth that is enabled through web based animation provides an extra layer of immersivity for the user and their experience.
